"Objective of R. D. Birla Scholarship Exam is to identify young talent and support them to achieve next level of performance."

Exam Details

  • Scholarship exam is based on Higher Order Thinking Questions from the fields of Science & Mathematics.
  • The scholarship exam will consist of only one exam paper.
  • The scholarship exam is divided into two levels :
    1. Level 1: Exam
    2. Level 2: In-person interview
  • Duration of the Level 1 exam :
    1. Grade 1 to 4 - 60 minutes
    2. Grade 5 to 8 - 80 minutes
  • On Exam Date : Reporting time at the centre - 10:30 AM.
  • It will be conducted in approximately 30 cities across 18 states
  • Registration fee is Rs 350 per student (including taxes)
  • Students from non participating schools can register themselves and report to the assigned exam center

  • Scholarship registration is closed for academic year 2019-20, Please fill contact form for next exam date
  • Student/school can select either 19th November 2019 or 30th November for Level 1 Exam.
  • Results for Level 1 exam will be declared on 16th January 2020.
  • Qualifying students for Level 2 will be intimated about the venue and date of the interview via email or phone.
  • Students selected for level 2 will be contending for the scholarship.
  • Contenders for level 2 will be selected across grades 1 to 8.

Eligibility Criteria


  • Students from grade 1 to 8 of all recognized education boards in India can participate in this exam.

* Students will be awarded scholarships based on Level 1 and 2 scores.


** Selection will be done based on various parameters set by an independent international assessment agency. The result declared by the agency cannot be challenged anywhere and by anyone.

*** Assessment agency will decide the cutoff marks; below which no student will be considered for awards or scholarships.

**** More than one scholarship can be awarded at the same monetary level. The number of scholarships to be awarded at each level will entirely be under the discretion of the agency.


A Trip to Japan


  • One deserving student from grade 8, along with one parent, will get a chance to travel to Japan and explore science and technology at a Japanese University.
  • Selection of the student will be done by the agency based on his / her performance at various levels of the exam.

    Q. When will I get the admit card?

    Ans. You will get the admit card in the first week of November subject to the condition that you have paid the exam fee.


    Q. What type of questions will be asked in the exam?

    Ans.Higher Order Thinking Questions will be asked in the exam. These questions will be from the field of Science/EVS or Math; current or previous grades. Questions will be application-based.


    Q. Where can I get a sample or previous year's papers?

    Ans. There is no prescribed book to practice for the exam, as the questions will be application-based. These questions will be based on your daily experiences. Hence, sample papers or previous year's papers are unavailable.


    Q. Which board's syllabus should help me prepare for the exam?

    Ans. No specific board is followed while designing the exam. The questions are application-based.


    Q.Is the exam a paper pen-based or computer-based online test?

    Ans. The computer-based test is available in the following cities.

    1. Delhi
    2. Chennai
    3. Kolkata
    4. Bhopal
    5. Pune

    Remaining cities will conduct only paper pen-based exam.


    Q. What is the reporting date and time at the center?

    Ans. All candidates have to report on 30 November at 10:30 AM at the exam center; unless there is any change in time printed on their admit card. Entry will be denied to candidates arriving late to the center.


    Q. Is the exam fee refundable?

    Ans. The exam fee is non-refundable. If you could not take the exam, for any reason, your exam fee will not be refunded.
